We have recently been receiving a number of calls and messages from individuals who appear to be confusing our practice with a similarly named company based in the UK.

For clarity, our official website is www.smarthearing.co.za, while the UK-based company operates under www.trysmarthearing.com.

We are not affiliated with them in any way.

Please note that we do not, and will never, sell hearing aids online. Our approach is centred around comprehensive, in-person hearing assessments. Each hearing aid is ordered specifically for the individual client, and professionally programmed and adjusted according to their unique hearing loss.

We would also advise exercising caution when entering credit card details on unfamiliar websites.

The UK-based site appears to offer amplifiers rather than medically prescribed hearing aids. Amplifiers simply increase the volume of all sounds, including background noise, and are not suitable for treating hearing loss. Proper hearing aids are sophisticated medical devices that require professional fitting and adjustment to be effective.
