Primary lymphoedema is a genetic or developmental condition of the lymphatic system. It happens when the body’s lymphatic vessels or nodes don’t form correctly, leading to fluid buildup and swelling.
Primary lymphoedema is chronic, meaning it doesn’t go away on its own.
Early recognition and care can slow progression, reduce discomfort & prevent infections and skin changes.
Swelling most commonly affects legs but can also involve arms or other areas.
Symptoms may include heaviness, tightness, recurring infections and skin changes.
Primary lymphoedema is real, chronic and understanding the “why” and “how” will help with your journey.
