The miracle of life is the best. Baby Gorillas 🦍 doing skin on skin and staying close to their mother. Humans need to do the same after birth. Skin on skin or KANGAROO 🦘 MOTHER CARE as we know it enhances maternal milk supply, bonding and brain 🧠 development. New life 🌍

Gorilla trekking safaris to Virunga National Park are a popular tourism activity in the Democratic Republic of Congo, home to around 600 of the world's remaining 1,000 endangered mountain gorillas.

⚠️ Overheating in babies may cause seizures - this is a medical emergency. Act immediately! 🚨

Steps to safely lower your baby's temperature:
πŸ”΄ Go to your nearest local clinic or hospital immediately.
πŸ”΄ Move the baby to a cooler place - shade, air-conditioned room, or near a fan (not blowing directly on the face).
πŸ”΄ Remove excess clothing.
πŸ”΄ Use a lukewarm (not cold) cloth on the neck, armpits, and groin area.
πŸ”΄ Do not use ice or cold baths β€” this can worsen the seizure.

During the seizure:
πŸ”΄ Lay the baby on their side on a flat surface.
πŸ”΄ Do not restrain them.
πŸ”΄ Do not put anything in their mouth.
πŸ”΄ Check breathing
πŸ”΄ If breathing stops or the baby turns blue - START CPR.
πŸ”΄ Do not give food, drink, or medication during the seizure. You can safely administer paracetamol in panado syrup or Calpol once baby is stable.
You can also call me for assistance, should you be concerned.
Let Nurse Judy K provide the guidance you need. Together we are stronger πŸ’ž

Did you ever overheat your baby by mistake? As a parent myself both my children have overheated at times. I felt terrible as both of them were sweating 😰.
Navigating parenting is challenging, but support, practical medical advice and tips are crucial. Help other parents learn by sharing your story.

We're often so busy keeping up with the kids, that we forget to prioritise ourselves.
A gentle reminder - self-care is crucial. A happy child starts with a happy mom πŸ’ž
Nurse Judy and her sister spent time at Murambi Roses, reconnecting with nature. Best let her find those beautiful cerise roses! πŸ’

Don’t you love the name ??? I found my fav Spot. Water πŸ’¦ is the living gift of life. I love the sea. I only managed to dip my toes as it’s freezing. Granny’s pool at St Francis is a great spot for new families, actually everyone. It’s a gentle sea of paradise. As we approach New Year - I pray you are safe, blessed and kind to yourself as you start 2026!!!! πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦

Yesterday I had the opportunity to watch the float day at St Francis Bay in the Eastern Cape πŸ“.
It was full of people, more people, LILO’s, bikinis, sunshine, laughter and ROTARY members 🌞.
A big shoutout to the Rotary Club of St Francis for organizing such a bright, fun event πŸ’«.
The morning was a true Ubuntu experience with over R400, 000, 000 raised for local social development ans support initiatives πŸŒ….
It is truly wonderful to see people working together to ENHANCE the lives of families and children ❀️. Best Start Baby Non-Profit hopes to expand into this community in 2026. THANK YOU ☺️

Nurse Judy storytime - I came across a shark while at the beach πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦

Yesterday - as I was about to dip into the seas of St Francis Bay πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ - I was stopped by a mother who explained that a shark's fin was seen close to the shoreline 🦈Moms helping moms - we love to see it ❀️

I immediately entered the water, slowly and carefully, looking for a fin 🦈.

The encounter reminded me of my breastfeeding technique and patent SHARK LATCH.
A newborn baby is compared to a little shark that comes UP AND OVER ONTO A MOTHER'S BREAST 🀱
The angle of the breast is vital for a deep breast attachment and painless latch πŸ“
Happy feeding without any sharks in sight today. πŸ˜‚

Remember: breastfeeding is transformative, stimulating brain activity in our babies! πŸ‘Ά
We believe in making parenting fun and engaging.
