"Not just a nurse. Not just a job." This motto has guided RN Lisa Els, nursing manager, since graduating with a BCur degree from the University of Port Elizabeth (now Nelson Mandela University). Committed to never settling for ‘ordinary,’ she has earned multiple postgraduate diplomas and a master’s degree in nursing research, continually expanding her skills to give the best possible care.

At Life St Mark’s Clinic, Lisa leads a team dedicated to making a meaningful difference every day — supporting patients through their most difficult moments, celebrating their progress, and recognising the trust families place in them. Our vision is to provide exceptional mental health care, challenge the stigma around mental illness, and make life better for those entrusted to our care. Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) is a medical treatment used to help people with chronic mental health conditions, like depression, who haven’t responded to other treatments. It involves a controlled, brief electrical current passed through the brain while the person is under anaesthetic.
While ECT may sound intimidating, it's a safe and effective option for many people, often providing significant relief.

Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength. If you or someone you know is exploring treatment options, reach out to a healthcare professional for guidance.

Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is when the pressure that blood places on blood vessels is higher than normal or necessary. Many people with high blood pressure don’t even know they have it. These could be warning signs.
Hypertension often goes unnoticed until it causes harm.
Symptoms that can indicate hypertension include but are not limited to:

A diagnosis should always be made by a healthcare professional by monitoring your blood pressure regularly.
Know your numbers. Get your blood pressure checked and stay in control.
