SANCA East London

SANCA East London Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation and Information Centre The organisation has been serving the growing need in the Eastern Cape community since 1952.

On the surface, SANCA Central Eastern Cape is a non-profit organisation focusing on the prevention of, intervention in, and rehabilitation of substance dependency. At the heart, however, SANCA CEC is more like a mother fighting alongside her family for its wellbeing. The passion, genuine devotion, belief and excellence with which the organisation functions goes far deeper than what some might imag

ine at first. The non-negotiable core values of SANCA CEC are expressed as follows:

Respect for all
Regardless of creed, colour or background. Confidentiality
We value your journey to recovery. Your story, stays your story. Integrity
Our word is our bond, and what we say we will do, we will do. Professionalism
Excellence and best practice are in our DNA. Service Delivery
Practical and committed, we follow through to the end. SANCA CEC’s head office and Treatment Centre, located in East London, administers its services across the Eastern Cape. Our reach extends as far as Port Elizabeth, Graaf-Reinet, Queenstown, Mount Fletcher, and Bizana. Our services includes treatment, awareness and prevention interventions within all of the above communities.

April isn’t just long weekends and celebrations…
It’s one of the highest-risk periods for binge drinking.

But here’s the truth:
Your lifestyle is built in the small choices no one sees. Drink less. Move more. Choose better.

Because a healthier life doesn’t happen overnight —
it’s built daily.

👉 This April, choose YOU.

Strong Minds, Strong Business

At BNI Thrive - Eastern Cape we delight in the opportunity for lifelong learning. Every week we have the chance to learn from one of our incredible members. This week we heard from Nokuthula Mabika of SANCA East London, who reminded us that our greatest business asset isn’t capital - it’s our mindset. In a world of pressure, stress and constant demands, it’s easy for habits like gambling or alcohol misuse to quietly undermine both personal wellbeing and business performance.

SANCA plays a vital role in supporting business professionals and business entities by promoting mental health, responsible decision-making, and resilience. They provide guidance on recognising and managing risks like gambling and alcohol misuse, helping leaders protect their focus, finances, and teams — ensuring that healthy minds drive strong businesses.

Nokuthula encouraged us to lead with intention. We were reminded to protect our focus, set clear financial boundaries, and develop the confidence to say no when it matters. We were challenged to replace unhealthy coping habits with positive alternatives: exercise, learning and connection with those near and dear to us – thus building resilience for the long term.

Thank you, Nokuthula, for reminding us that strong leadership begins with wise personal choices. Because strong minds don’t just build strong businesses; they build strong futures.

This Human Rights Month, we’re reminded that every person deserves dignity, confidentiality, and respect in their journey to recovery. At SANCA, we protect not just your health — but your story.

And with that right comes responsibility: to respect the privacy of others, including those walking this journey beside you.

Recovery is built on trust. Let’s protect it.
