Ok I am putting this all out there. If anybody knows an attorney that deals with small healthcare practices being audited by Discovery, please refer me to them. (I am not an SASP member so would need someone private).

I have been in this process for about two months now, where they found an alleged "billing code error", dating back three years, and came back with an amount so incredulous, it will no doubt close my practice's doors. I never shy away from responsibility but I know I am not wrong here.

I have reached out to colleagues who have all been a great help, but unfortunately the lawyers are all either on leave, out of the country or not responding.

It saddens me to think we are in a "healthcare system" where the good, honest, hard-working, people-serving, small healthcare practices are not being fought FOR, but against.

I am not going to share my whole 17 year story of dedication to this profession here. But I will fight for what is fair and good and right.
And I KNOW I'm not just speaking for myself here, there are masses out there in the same situation.

So please guide, refer or advise if you know anybody.

I had a nice chat with my CrossFit coach over the weekend. He mentioned that no one wakes up super motivated every single day. Their success lies more in the fact that they show up despite not feeling motivated. They are purely just dedicated. Dedication ties in with consistency and you can only really achieve that if you have set goals and wish to attain them.
I really liked that! It takes the pressure off of having to feel amped and motivated and positive and optimistic allll the time.

How badly do you want to achieve your goals? Don't worry if you are not motivated today. Just show up and do your thing.

Hey guys! Let's be honest. This time of year could be equally happy and sad. Sometimes more of the latter than the former. Festivities, family gatherings and the hunt for gifts and food can emphasize who or what we miss the most. Instead of feeling "festive", we feel lonely. We remember people and traditions that are maybe no longer with us. If this is not a happy time of year for you, there is nothing wrong with you! And you are not alone.

About three years ago, life as we knew it has changed forever, and impacted some more than others, with some form of loss. Whether that was your income, a loved one, an animal, your job or your health.

Just know, it is okay to feel this way. Let the emotion come, feel it, and then let it go. Reach out to someone who might be feeling the same way. Take this time to rest, to reflect, to heal. Make new traditions, do what YOU want to do for Christmas for a change. Do what makes YOU happy 😊

Doing something creative stimulates active flow which floods your brain with dopamine (that feel-good hormone!).

I have seen very stressed and anxious patients lately, where their back and neck pain just won't go away. And what I've realized is they all have one thing in common: they have not done a hobby or created anything in a long time, and they yearn for it!

I could (and probably should!) write a book on the relationship between lack of creative energy and manifestation of physical pain.

I have also seen major change in behaviour and self-confidence in kids when presented with an opportunity to create. They would draw something, we would do a 6 week rehab protocol of a certain injury, and they would draw a picture again, showing more fluidity in lines, concentration and perspective.

Do your mind, spirit and body a favour and do something creative this festive time πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ€πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ¨πŸ§‘β€πŸ³πŸ§‘β€πŸ’»πŸ§‘β€πŸ”¬πŸ§‘β€πŸ”§πŸ§‘β€πŸ­πŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎ. It can be anything you like (and it doesn't have to be showcased anywhere if you don't want it to!).
