The National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) is a leading disability organisation with over 80 yearsโ€™ experience in enabling, supporting and enhancing the quality of life for persons with disabilities. NCPD strives to make South Africa a country where persons with disabilities have access to equal opportunities and rights. Our goal is to ensure that people with disabilities attain their full rights as citizens through:

- Advocating and facilitating inclusion, access and economic empowerment
- Contributing to and influencing Government policies
- Changing attitudes through sensitization and awareness programs

The NCPD follows a rights-based approach within the framework of the social and human rights models of disability in its services to and in respect of persons with disabilities. The NCPD is instrumental in the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the South African White Paper on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (WPRPD).

This is Daphney Twala.

She works at the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities, she lives her best life, and she was born with four fingers โ€” and she wouldn't change a thing.

Daphney wants you to know that persons with disabilities are not defined by what they don't have. They are defined by who they are, what they contribute, and how they show up โ€” every single day.

This Casual Day, you can show up too.

Head to www.casualday.co.za, get your sticker, pick up a cap or bucket hat, and wear your support with pride on 4 September 2026.

Watch Daphney's story. Share it. And let's make this the most inclusive Casual Day yet.

Meet the man behind the beat. ๐Ÿฅ

Ghapi โ€” singer, drummer, songwriter and one of South Africa's most iconic entertainers โ€” is beating for a cause this Casual Day 2026!

With over 40 years in the music industry, four number-one hits, his own drum school and record label, Ghapi knows better than anyone that music has the power to bring people together. And that's exactly why he's starring in the upcoming Casual Day TV ad โ€” built around our 2026 theme, Beat As One: Rhythm Matters.

A drum unites. It doesn't ask your ability before letting you feel the beat โ€” it simply calls you in. That's inclusion. That's what Casual Day is all about.

We're honoured by Ghapi's contribution to this campaign. His heart and talent are making this year's movement bigger than ever.

Join the beat! ๐Ÿ’™ Grab your Casual Day sticker, T-shirt, cap or beanie โ€” wear your support with pride on 4 September 2026.

He can't see you. But he will move you.

Meet Bhekani "Brazoh B" Ngcobo โ€” a blind professional, a dedicated team member at NCPD South Africa, a proud artist, and living proof that disability does not define your destiny.

Every morning, Bhekani gets up and navigates his world on his own terms. At the office, he contributes with purpose. At home, he has built a life of independence and dignity. And when the music calls โ€” as Brazoh B โ€” he pours out art that moves hearts and shifts perspectives.

He doesn't need sight to have vision.

This Casual Day 2026, the theme is BEAT AS ONE โ€” because inclusion is a rhythm we all belong to.

On 4 September 2026, wear your Casual Day sticker, cap, bucket hat, or t-shirt and show South Africa that you stand for a country where everyone is valued, included, and celebrated.

Nothing is impossible. Believe in yourself.

Every sticker counts. Every purchase supports disability organisations that change lives.

If using headphones, play the music at safe listening levels. Rule of thumb: If you cannot hear other people talking when you are wearing the headphones or if other people have to shout to you to be heard at one metre away while the headphones are on, it is too loud.

Our mental health is just as important as physical health and should be given equal priority. Sadly, the stigma surrounding mental health conditions still remains, meaning those affected are reluctant to speak about their condition.

Fanie du Toit's guest this Sunday on RSG has experienced this first-hand. Bella* has Other Specified Dissociative Disorder and will share her real-life experiences as well as how an assistance dog supports her.

17 children are now sitting in classrooms built for them. This is what advocacy looks like.

For too long, parents of children with physical disabilities have been met with unanswered phones and closed doors. The NCPD โ€” through a powerful partnership with the SABC โ€” refused to accept that as the end of the story.

NCPD's Dylan Mashele visited schools, went to families' homes, and sat with parents who had stopped hoping. The SABC amplified those stories.

And the results are now visible:
โœ… 17 new learners placed at Hope School (Grade Rโ€“12, CAPS curriculum)
โœ… 6 more children undergoing assessment for placement
โœ… Additional learners placed at Adelaide Tambo School in Soweto
Both schools are Casual Day beneficiaries. The funds South Africans raise every September keep these schools open, staffed, and accessible.

Hope School Principal Wilfred Jacobs confirmed space is still available in most grades โ€” with hostel facilities for learners who need accommodation. If you know a family who needs help accessing placement, share this story.

Behind the scenes: Casual Day 2026 is in production!

What an extraordinary day at Klitsgras Drumming Venue as we brought the Casual Day 2026 campaign theme โ€” Beat as One โ€“ Rhythm Matters โ€” to life on camera.

The stars of the shoot? The amazing learners of Alma School, whose energy, heart, and rhythm made every take electric. We are so proud of every single one of them.
Huge thanks to:
๐ŸŽถ Ghapi Musician for the drumming expertise that set the tone
๐Ÿก Klitsgras Drumming Venue for the incredible space and warm hospitality
๐Ÿ“ธJacques'Photography for freezing the magic in stills
๐ŸŽฌ Galjaard Photography for capturing the video story
๐Ÿ’› The entire NCPD team, who coordinated the shoot with passion and purpose

The final advert will be released in due course โ€” watch this space!
In the meantime, Casual Day 2026 falls on Friday, 4 September โ€” and stickers and merchandise are available now at ๐Ÿ‘‰ www.casualday.co.za

Every sticker sold. Every item purchased. Every rand raised โ€” goes directly toward disability inclusion, assistive devices, youth programmes, and so much more. Together, we've raised over R475 million since 1994. Let's beat that drum louder in 2026.

๐ŸŸก Buy your sticker. Join the beat. Make it matter.

For the next few weeks, in the run up to International Noise Awareness Day on 29 April, we will be posting about ways in which to recognise loud noise and what to do to keep your hearing safe.

Research has shown that hearing loss can be linked to other pathologies like diabetes, Alzheimer's, heart disease and stroke. It also contributes to social isolation, depression and a risk of falling.

If you can't reduce noise in your environment, remove yourself from the environment!
