🗣Severs disease⚠️
🏥 Did you know that Sever's disease, also known as calcaneal apophysitis, is a common cause of heel pain in young athletes? 🔍 It's an overuse injury that affects the growth plate in the heel bone. During adolescence, the heel bone is still growing, and repetitive stress from physical activities like running🏃, jumping⬆️, and other sports can cause inflammation and pain in the growth plate.
💡 Symptoms of Sever's disease include pain and tenderness in the heel💥, especially after physical activity, as well as swelling and stiffness in the heel. If left untreated, Sever's disease can lead to chronic pain and even interfere with your child's ability to participate in sports.😔
🏋️♀️ Biokinetics is a type of physical therapy that focuses on improving physical functioning and preventing injury.
💪 A biokineticist can design a custom exercise program to help manage Sever's disease, reducing pain and improving function. Treatment may include exercises to stretch and strengthen the muscles in the lower leg and foot, as well as advice on proper footwear and training techniques.
