PAH

Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) is a rare side effect of cryolipolysis, a non-surgical fat reduction procedure commonly known as fat-freezing. Instead of reducing fat, PAH results in an unexpected increase in the size of fat tissue in the treated area.

Key Features:
Unintended Growth: PAH causes the treated fat cells to grow larger instead of shrinking, leading to a firm, often raised mass under the skin.

Delayed Onset:
This condition usually becomes apparent several weeks to months after the procedure, rather than immediately.

Aesthetic Concern: The enlarged tissue can create a visibly disproportionate appearance, which is often distressing to the patient.

Treatment:
PAH is typically resistant to further non-invasive treatments, and surgical liposuction may be required to correct the condition.

Our wonderful patient was unlucky following her fat-freezing treatment and suffered from PAH on the abdomen.

This is her 6 week result after liposuction to correct this, in combination with moderate definition liposuction techniques.
