Skin care requires a multi- level approach. It takes time and commitment to a skin care regime to achieve the best results. Diet and lifestyle go hand in hand with great skin, so it is  important to focus on this too when embarking on your skin journey.

Dermapen is one of my favourite treatments as it targets so many skin concerns and allows active serums and peels to be directly applied into the skin, all with minimal downtime. Eat well, Live well, Age well. 🥑

Maintaining a nutritious, whole food diet is important to promote a healthy ageing process. A balanced diet rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients from fruit and vegetables is essential for optimal health. If animal products are part of your diet, make sure they are from a good source (i.e. grass fed, organic, pasture raised).

Avoiding processed foods will keep you on the right track, especially processed oils (canola, sunflower etc) as these promote inflammation.

Eating organic also reduces your exposure to damaging pesticides. See the "dirty dozen" food list in the next image. Be sure to avoid buying these in conventional stores and rather buy organic. The "clean fifteen" is a good guide for veggies and fruit that are safer to buy from conventional sources.

Find what works for you and try your best to keep to whole, unprocessed food as mother nature intended.

What you put into your body will determine how well you will age so make sure it’s only the good stuff. Diet forms only part of a healthy ageing process - stay tuned for more healthy ageing tips!

One of my ‘must have’ winter products is the - Skin Active Dermal Replenishment.

Packed with antioxidants and amino acids, this serum intensively moisturizes and hydrates your skin to help promote a firmer appearance and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Overall, skin appears smoother, brighter and more radiant. An excellent product for those with very dry skin and for extra moisture during the dryer winter months.

Applied in the evenings, it can be used alone or in conjunction with other face products.

Dr Jemma Simpson qualified as a Medical Doctor in 2007 from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.

After completing her internship and community service in Cape Town at Groote Schuur Hospital and Red Cross Children's Hospital, Dr Simpson was appointed ship's doctor on Princess Cruises.

A large part of her career also consisted of working in the Emergency Department as a medical officer.

Since completing her medical degree, Dr Simpson has developed a passion for Aesthetic Medicine and believes that focusing on enhancing the individual assets of her patients is key to providing an effective, personalised treatment plan.

Respecting each individuals unique beauty and identity is an important goal when treating all patients.
