POST PARTUM👶🏻🤱🏼👣

Estrogen and progesterone levels drops significantly after birth. It can take 3 to 6 months for these levels to reach prepregnancy and even up to a year if you are breastfeeding. This can lead to anxiety, moodswings and feelings of depression.

Take the first part of post partum to rest and reconnect with your body and most importantly to connect with your baby. It is not the time to bounce back to prepregnancy.

We all have different birth stories, trauma, babies who sleeps less than others. Don't compare your story to someone else's.

Check in with new mothers, not just on the babies🤗

When would you see a physiotherapist when pregnant?

🤰🏼Lower back, hip, SIJ or p***c symphysis pain
🤰🏼Upper back and neck pain
🤰🏼Pelvic floor heaviness
🤰🏼Urinary leaking or constipation

Even if you don't struggle with any pain we help with exercise modifications and relevant stretches. We also give advice on birth prep (breathing properly) and perineal massage from week34.

PELVIC ORGAN PROLAPSE:

It is where 1 of your pelvic organs (the bladder, re**um or uterus) moves into the va**na. If they are no longer well supported by your ligaments, connective tissue (fascia) and your pelvic floor muscles, they can descend down into the va**na.

Typical symptoms are:
🔺A bulge felt in the va**na
🔺Difficulty inserting or keeping tampons in
🔺Discomfort during sexual intercouse or the as if somethimg is in the way
🔺A feeling of heaviness
🔺Abdominal pain, back pain or pain in your va**na
🔺Symptoms that worsen after standing for long periods or straining

It's BREASTFEEDING WEEK 1-7 August

✨Most mom's struggle with tight neck and back muscles from being in a bent forward posture while breastfeeding.

✨The best strategy is to move in different directions to get out of the flexion posture.

Try the following exercises to get moving:

-Cat & Cow stretch
-Thread the needle
-Release between shoulder blades with a tennis ball against the wall
-Diaphragmatic breathing

Reach out to a physiotherapist if you suffer from any prolonged pain.

Being a mother is hard work, don't neglect your own health🤱🏼
