The lights have dimmed, and the hall is quiet…
yet the warmth and spirit of this year’s Carpe Diem Christmas Market will linger long after the final door closes.

This event was more than shopping.
It was a celebration of community, love, and togetherness.
Every smile, every contribution, and every greeting helped shape the future of our Carpies.

Every cup of coffee, every small purchase, and every meaningful moment made a lasting impact.
We saw it in their eyes, their laughter, and their pride.

Thank you for making this Christmas Market a place

tog sal die warmte en gees van hierdie jaar se Carpe Diem Christmas Market lank ná die laaste deur se sluiting voelbaar wees.

Hierdie geleentheid was meer as net inkopies.
Dit was ’n viering van gemeenskap, liefde en saam-wees.
Elke glimlag, elke bydrae en elke groet het bygedra tot die toekoms van ons Carpies.

Elke koppie koffie, elke klein aankoop en elke betekenisvolle oomblik het ’n blywende indruk gemaak.
Ons het dit gesien in hul oë, hul lag, en hul trots.

Dankie dat julle hierdie Kersmark ’n plek gemaak het
waar hoop floreer, liefde voelbaar is,
en elkeen kan sê: “Ek behoort hier.”

Carpe Diem School – George

Carpe Diem School invites applications from dedicated and compassionate nurses to join our multidisciplinary team supporting learners with diverse and specialised needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic R425 Nursing qualification (Diploma/Degree) allowing registration with SANC
• Current SANC registration
• Valid Code B driver’s licence
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Professional Nurse
• Dispensing licence advantageous (beneficial for ELSEN school/hostel environment)

Skills Required

• Excellent communication in Afrikaans and English
• Strong teamwork within a multidisciplinary environment
• Report writing & record keeping
• Planning, organising and nursing intervention skills
• Ability to support learners with severe and profound disabilities in a caring, ethical and dignified manner

Duties (Summary)

• Screening for health problems
• Health promotion & illness prevention
• Administration of medication and treatments
• Clinical support to learners
• Reporting to the School Principal and Clinical Programme Manager

🌟 Vacancy: Registered Social Worker at Carpe Diem Special School 🌟

Carpe Diem Special School in George is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary team, supporting learners with diverse educational, emotional, and behavioural needs.

Minimum Requirements:

Recognised 4-year degree or diploma in Social Work

Full registration with SACSSP (proof of payment for 2025–2026)

Valid driver’s license

Computer literate

Languages: Afrikaans & English (Xhosa an advantage)

Key Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive social work services to learners and families, including preventative and therapeutic interventions

Manage and support learners with behavioural challenges, considering emotional and environmental factors

Facilitate structured parent guidance programmes

Deliver play therapy interventions to individuals or small groups

Collaborate within a multidisciplinary and school-based support team

Provide crisis intervention, risk assessments, and referrals to specialist or external services

Maintain professional records, reporting, and compliance with legislation and school policies

Salary: R16 500 per month
Commencement Date: 1 January 2026
Closing Date: Friday, 28 November 2025 at 12:00

🌟 Carpe Diem at the SADGA Disability Golf Inter-Schools Event! 🌟

Our Carpe Diem School golfers, Cody Abrahams, Siyabonga Booysen, Asikelelwe Khunou, Avuzwa Voko, Bayolose Ngunze & Lee-Hansey Louw, have had an incredible week in Cape Town, participating in the Inter-Schools Competition organized by the South African Disability Golf Association (SADGA). From Monday to tomorrow, our learners have not only enjoyed golf, but also experienced a week full of adventure and learning! ⛳💚

We are so proud of our amazing golfers:
🏆 Lee-Hansey Louw – Spirit Award
🏆 Avuzwa Voko – Best Wheelchair Golfer of the Day
🏆Carpe Diem School proudly snatched the Overall Best School Award out of the five schools participating! What an outstanding achievement!

The learners visited Table Mountain, the Aquarium and enjoyed a boat ride. Seems as if there might be a few more surprises planned before their return home tomorrow. 🌄✨

A huge thank you to Teacher Angela Nelson, golf coach Carlo Kok, and bus driver Mr Johnathan Tarentaal for their support, guidance, and for keeping our learners safe and happy throughout the trip. 🙏💚

✨ Carpe Diem School at Dinner in the Dark! ✨

On Friday, 14 November, our learners had the privilege of performing at Dinner in the Dark held at Protea Hotels by Marriott, King George. This special event supported the Haroldsbaai Stranddienste and Carpe Diem School, raising awareness about blindness while celebrating the talent and impact of young people.

Our Marimba Band and Hip Hop Dance Group shone brightly, giving a fantastic performance that lit up the evening.

A heartfelt thank-you to Keagen Prins, Head Boy of Carpe Diem School, who co-hosted the evening with Hendrik from Outeniqua High School, and to Christiaan (BVSA) and Maritza Human for their support and contributions.

We are incredibly proud of all our learners for their energy, talent, and the joy they brought to the event!
