Save the Dates – A Season of Connection Awaits!

Our much-anticipated events calendar is filled with opportunities to connect, celebrate, and create special memories together. We warmly invite all residents to make a note of these dates and join in the activities that make our community so vibrant.

Look forward to favourites like the energetic Groenkloof Dash Fun Run in March, the heartwarming International Pet Day in April, and our welcoming Groenkloof Clubs Open Day in May. Prioritise your wellbeing on Global Wellness Day in June, and honour the spirit of giving on Nelson Mandela Serve Day in July.

August brings a particularly exciting milestone as we celebrate Groenkloof’s 21st Birthday, followed by an inspiring Leadership Summit. In September, we cherish family connections on Grandparents Day and focus on important planning during Wills Week.

Raise a glass at October Fest, celebrate our remarkable residents at the 90+ Function, recognise those who care so selflessly on the International Day for Carers, and end the year beautifully with Carols by Candlelight in December.

Groenkloof Seesig: Waar Geskiedenis en Aftrede met Gemoedsrus Ontmoet

Groenkloof Seesig het nie net ’n pragtige uitsig nie — dit het ook ’n storie. Die grond waarop Seesig vandag verrys, was eens ‘n saagmeule wat in die 1800’s deur Charles Searle, stigter van Groot-Brakrivier, begin is. On Wednesday, 3 December, we enjoyed a beautiful and blessed evening on the lawns at The Hub House, celebrating Christmas with carols hosted by Father's House Church. Their team put so much heart into creating a festive atmosphere, from the stage and décor to the glow of candles, gift boxes, and twinkling lights ✨

A special thank-you to Pastor William of Father's House Church, their worship band, and the always-popular Michael Lindt for leading us in worship and a sing-along of much-loved Christmas favourites.

The Hub House Restaurant added to the sense of community by staying open with a special light-meal menu, and many enjoyed warm drinks and good company before and during the event.

We look forward to this event becoming a firm annual favourite at Groenkloof. Wishing all our residents a heartfelt Merry Christmas as we celebrate the joy of Jesus, Immanuel — God with us — as we close out 2025 together 🙌

Exciting News from Groenkloof Gardens! 😃

From launching Groenkloof Gardens in 2023, two phases totalling 74 homes have been completed and the final phase of Groenkloof Gardens, Phase F, is making great progress.

With 70% of the stands already sold, only 13 plots remain available. Construction is buzzing, 15 new homes are rising, and we’ve already welcomed the first resident in Phase F!

The Gardens community has grown to be a next-level vibrant and caring community. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this thriving community.

Ons inwoners se “Bekers van Liefde”-projek — pakkies vol bederfitems vir ons versorgers — was weer ’n groot sukses 😄

’n Groot dankie aan ons inwoners wat met soveel omgee pakkies opgemaak het, en aan Susan van Vuuren, wat hierdie inisiatief nou al vier jaar lank met liefde en toewyding lei. Sy het die pakkies pragtig uitgestal en in ‘n feestelike atmosfeer aan elke versorger ‘n bederfpakkie oorhandig.

Paul Kruger van die Groenkloof Stigting het ook die geleentheid bygewoon en ons versorgers bedank vir hul toewyding, liefde en sorg deur die jaar. Hierdie jaarlikse geleentheid weerspieël die meelewendheid van ons inwoners, wat op so ‘n betekenisvolle manier “dankie” sê vir die waardevolle rol wat elke versorger speel.

In Groenkloof seëvier liefde en dankbaarheid — en hierdie bekers bewys dit elke
jaar.

Celebrating Longevity and Love at Groenkloof 🙌

October began on a joyful note at Groenkloof George, where residents from all our estates aged 90 and older were honoured at a special luncheon on 1 October, International Day for the Elderly.

Hosted by the Groenkloof Directors at The Hub House restaurant, 101 residents and guests gathered to celebrate life, friendship, and faith. Uplifting messages reminded everyone of the promise of hope and the joy of being part of a caring community 😄

Jan Fourie, representing the Groenkloof Foundation, paid tribute to centenarians Lien Steyn (102), Val Murray (101), Jackie MacKenzie (101), and Reinette Schroeder (100). He emphasised Groenkloof’s commitment to care, security, and social connection, all key to living with dignity and wellbeing.

Even those unable to attend were remembered with a lovingly baked brownie — a sweet reminder that they are never forgotten. Groenkloof truly is a place where care and community meet, and every life is celebrated.

Celebrating Grandparents’ Day at Groenkloof 🥰

On Sunday, 5 October, Groenkloof Retirement Village celebrated National Grandparents’ Day.

The day was filled with special moments of togetherness and gratitude. For some grandparents, the highlight was receiving video and written messages from their children and grandchildren living overseas, bringing smiles, tears, and deep appreciation.

Those fortunate enough to spend the day with their families shared precious time together at home or over a special Sunday meal in the Groenkloof dining rooms. Welcoming drinks set a festive tone, and a particularly touching moment came when some grandchildren entertained residents with their piano music during the lunch hour — a joyful reminder of how generations enrich one another.

The Hub House joined in the celebration, opening specially for coffee and cake. Fires were lit for those who preferred to braai, while others enjoyed picnics, making the most of the sunny afternoon.

Even residents without visiting family joined in, enjoying the warmth and companionship of friends and neighbours.

It was a day of joy, gratitude and connection — a celebration of every grandparent.
