Anine van der Westhuizen Biokineticist, George This whole body EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) Technology was the first in the Garden Route!! We have been using it in the practice since 2013.

As a dynamic Biokinetics practice we have a keen interest in ortopaedic rehabilitation. We use tools like full body EMS, Exxentric Box,Dynamometer strength tests and BFR to assist patients to reach their goals and function as effective as possible. This is the ultimate full body training experience where electrical conductivity is used to contract muscles. During EMS training 90% of the body’s musc

les are activated simultaneously per muscle contraction and it is much stronger and more intense than any normal contraction. Thus deeper muscle groups are activated. Research shows that EMS is 18 x more effective than conventional training at the gym and results in enhanced muscle definition and tone. 20 minutes of EMS equals 3 x training sessions of 90 min weight training workouts.
88% of the people tested, reduced their back pain, 75% showed an improvement in incontinence. EMS is gentle on your joints as there is no extra impact. This means that you can use it even if you have an injury. No muscle groups are over trained as all muscles are simultaneously activated and strengthened by the impulses regulated by the device. EMS is ideal for sportspersons who want to increase their strength, endurance and power, people who have limited time to workout, who want to tone and lose body fat, post-natal moms and those who have an injury and want to train safely. This is an amazing feeling and defenitely something you will have to experience for yourself!!!

Exercise is one of the most effective ways to boost brain health, with benefits ranging from immediate mood improvements to long-term protection against cognitive decline. Regular movement increases blood flow to the brain, delivers essential oxygen, and triggers the release of "fertilizer" proteins like BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) that grow new brain cells.

Think of your brain as a garden, keep it happy and healthy.

Strength training for women offers profound health benefits, including increased bone density to prevent osteoporosis, higher metabolism for weight management, and improved muscle mass to combat age-related loss. It enhances joint health, reduces injury risk, strengthens mental health, and improves cardiovascular health.

Special to share life experiences together. Here is a thought: getting married is like exercising: CONSISTENCY is key, so you have to work at it every day and make a concious decision to love someone similar to deciding every day to look after your health!!

Gwen, by being your real authentic self I don't think you realise how many lives you are impacting with your creating of awareness of Mental Health! By running this desert marathon you are taking on something bigger than ourselves. It is an honour to be on Team Gwen xx

It's now just over 2 weeks until I leave to start my amazing adventure - can't believe how time has flown! Very grateful to my team of amazing people who have helped me to prepare - my family, Anine van der Westhuizen, Colleen Browne, Sonje Steyn, Katelyn Mullon and the countless other people that have helped me get to this point.

Yesterday, I did the longest of my long training runs and the weather was absolutely perfect for the occasion - 36 deg C, very little breeze and baking sun! Unfortunately, I had to leave Asterix at home as he would have been at extremely high risk for heat stroke under these conditions (although he was very unimpressed!)

And I was absolutely stoked that I could complete 50km in these challenging conditions, with a heavy pack (8kg) and still feel strong enough to do "Mom Duties" in the afternoon.

I do believe that I am as ready as I can be. Let's Do It!
