EXCITING NEWS! Vision Screening can now be done on your little ones from as young as 6 months old. Do you know that 1 in 5 children aged 4 years old have undetected refractive (vision) problems which may lead to Amblyopia (also known as lazy eye) - an early childhood condition where a child's eyesight in one eye does not develop as it should. The eye with affected sight (Amblyopia) will not receive clear images; the brain won't receive clear data and will eventually start to ignore it. In severe cases this can lead to complete blindness in the affected eye. Early detection, particularly before the age of 6 or 7 is essential, but the younger the child is, the easier it is to correct.

Vision Screening Services

Hi My name is Glenys and I am a Mom and fairly recently I became a Gran. Although I was a PA, I have always been passionate about health, so when I heard about this wonderful non-invasive Plusoptix Screener which detects visual impairment with an infra-red light, I became extremely excited, especially as it can screen babies’ eyes from as young as 6 months old. The earlier a visual impairment is detected the higher the possibility of being treated 100% successfully. We therefore recommend that children be screened before the age of 6 /7 years as after this age it is much more difficult to have amblyopia (lazy eye) reversed, a condition found in 20% of children under the age of 4 years. Other conditions can also be picked up with the vision screening eg near and far sightedness, squints etc.
