Please note that although my doors were physically closed due to the nationwide lockdown, I remain determined to serve those children and families who require learning support and speech & language therapy. In the true spirit of flattening the curve and in line with the online teaching approach, I have transitioned towards the provision of teletherapy. It is a new and exciting method of providing assessment and therapy to all despite lockdown and social distancing constraints which have been placed on each of us. All teletherapy services have been approved by the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Additionally, the costs of assessment and therapy through teletherapy has now been confirmed to be covered by the majority of medical aid providers in South Africa.

I have spent a considerable amount of time learning about and using the “Zoom” online platform to conduct teletherapy sessions, whilst also adapting and utilising resources and equipment designed for online use which is still engaging, fun and interactive for each child. I have been conducting teletherapy for a number of children who had already begun therapy with me prior to the lockdown, with the results of these therapy sessions showing them to be a resounding success.

During this lockdown period I will be providing online speech therapy and language services to ensure continued growth and stimulation, regardless of the surrounding circumstances. I am providing support in the form of learning support, speech, language (understanding and expressing), literacy (reading and writing), comprehension, auditory processing, phonological awareness, fluency and articulation therapy.

Should any teacher or parent believe that their child would benefit from speech and language therapy, please contact me at the details provided below, comfortable in the knowledge that teletherapy is a beneficial method of therapy.
