Why can't I buy my whole prosthetic limb from places like marketplace or second hand stores?

A prosthesis is never one size fits all, the socket that goes over your residual limb is custom made to ensure proper fit and no limb is exactly the same. Components that goes with the socket to give you a complete prosthesis, is selected according to your specific needs and profile.

Currently busy with a 𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝘁, but taking the size of the cast into consideration, we decided to fill it with foam instead of plaster. We also had to cut the cast into two parts to manage the postive mold accordingly, as well as to realistically be able to block a piece of plastic that could fit into the oven and be draped. This was certainly an anxious ordeal filling such a large cast with so much foam, felt like a science experiment watching it erupt.

𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁. Foot impression boxes are frequently used to manufacture toe fillers, whereas castings can be used for surgical boots or in cases where more control is needed for mobilization. Then ofcourse, the custom silicone cosmetic device is for functionality, but more so asthetics. Each technique is patient dependent, but we ensure functionality is provided!

Will my lymphedema go away?

Lymphedema does not go away, but with proper compression garments and management it can be maintained to prevent it from getting worse.
