Tuberculosis Myths 🤥 Explanations ⬇️
1. TB is curable when treatment is taken properly; untreated TB can be fatal.
2. TB can affect more than lungs: e.g. brain (TB meningitis), spine, lymph nodes, kidneys, etc
3. That was mainly with older drugs! Newer TB treatments are safer and closely monitored.
4. TB can be silent as some people have active/asymptomatic TB without the classic symptoms.
5. Not all TB spreads: latent (inactive) TB doesn’t spread, and people with active TB on effective treatment quickly become non-infectious.
6. TB is airborne and doesn’t discriminate, anyone exposed can get it.
