“We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are” ~ Anais Nin

When our bodies are dysregulated and we see things through the lens of trauma, the world can indeed be a terrifying place. Just knowing this is comforting, as we remind ourselves that fear is not our reality, but rather our body’s stuck, habituated response in the face of anything it reads as danger. It can really feel like we are losing our minds if a harmless armchair looks threatening… but that’s just it! A traumatized body’s danger detecting abilities are not the most reliable, often giving cues of danger when in fact there is no external threat (and sometimes giving an equally inappropriate response when the threat is real).

The good news is that this can be changed! Through a loving and compassionate approach of enquiry into the mind and body.

Our recently developed Trauma Release programme will provide you with some of these tools on a guided journey of self-discovery, reclamation and remembrance.
These include kinesiology, counseling, reiki, somatic experiencing, mindfulness, massage and nature connection, informed by the practices of pioneers in the field of healing trauma, Gabor Mate, Peter Levine, Jeffrey Rutstein, Deb Dana and Stephen W. Porges.

This programme, though not yet on our website, is an addition to our other 4 retreat programmes. Please contact us directly for further information.

We welcome all enquiries - drop us a DM, contact us via our website *LINK IN BIO*, or on Whatsapp 060 828 0884

A gluten-free malty orange sponge cake, baked by our chef Hannah , and inspired by ✨

Do you want the sweetness of food
or the sweetness of the one
who put sweetness in the food?

There are amazing things in the ocean, and there is one who is the ocean.

Think of a carpenter’s alert comprehension
when he builds a house.

Now think of the one
who creates consciousness.

It takes skill to extract oil from a nut.
Now consider how sight lives in the eye.

There is a night full of the wildness
of wanting. Then dawn comes.
You take my hand in yours.

There are those who doubt
that this can happen.

They pour powdered gold into barley bins.
They follow donkeys to the barn.

Enough words. Friend,
you can make the ear see.

Speak the rest of this poem
in that language.

~ Rumi, “Earsight”

I began today with reading a little book of poems which my late father gave me, and wanted to share this little poem by Dorothy Frances Gurney with all of you for when you are needing something simple that works to soothe, comfort and inspire:

“The kiss of the sun for pardon
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God’s heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth”

I wish you all a year ahead of stepping into your deepest heart’s wisdom, of staying very close to nature, as it lights the way back to your own true nature of goodness, kindness and compassion. Starting with you. Bless you. May you be safe and happy and well.
