Our Story

Sanfern Downs is a company based on a family farm ( Phoenix Farm) in the beautiful mountainous setting of Magoebaskloof, Limpopo Province, South Africa. Sanfern Downs produces natural products including the wonderful Bulbine Balm. It is a wholesome home made product. All the ingredients are natural with no artificial ingredients or artificial preservatives. The herbs are hand harvested locally and processed on the farm. Sanfern Downs’ Bulbine Balm, is a natural healing balm made specifically to nourish the skin and to heal a host of skin ailments for the whole family including your special pets. The Ingredients are: Shea Butter Avocado Oil Wheatgerm Oil Pelagonium graveolens Bulbine frutescence Centella asiatica Some of the ailments we have found it to be helpful for are: Rashes, cold sores, grazes, sunburn, skin ulcers, mosquito bites/ itchy bites, bruising, reduces scarring, slows down the formation of wrinkles, stops minor bleeding such as shaving cuts etc. Used as a heel balm for rough skin, increases blood circulation topically, accelerates healing, bedsores, ringworm, it retards the onset of Gangrene, reduces the itch and sting of eczema, reduces the swelling of bee stings, boils, relieves arthritic pain, It is also effective for use on animals and pets for wounds, sores and rashes. Actions: Topical disinfectant, anti inflammatory, antihistamine, antifungal, anti bacterial, increases collagen deposition, anti aging, anti free radical agent, Vitamin A & E Directions for use: Apply to the skin topically where needed, as often as needed. Do not eat. Keep in a cool place and not in direct sunlight.

Natural cordials with no artificial preservatives or flavourings in 500ml glass bottles with a hot seal. There are two flavours available , they are Lemongrass and Ginger, using freshly harvested locally grown Cymbopogan citratus ( Lemon Grass) and fresh ginger root. The second flavour is a Lemon and Berry using Lemon juice and a mix of Mulberries and locally grown Blue berries.

We also have self catering accommodation available for a couple in the quaint Sanfern Downs Cottage on the farm. The perfect break away retreat in a natural environment surrounded by plantations and gardens. it is 9 km away from the quaint village of Haenertsburg where one can visit the different novelty shops, restaurants and pubs and participate in may different activities on offer in the area.
