The "Veil of the South" Samhain Ritual
What you will need:
Your Tarot or Oracle deck.
Pietersite crystal to act as a "storm stone" to navigate the transition between worlds.
A single candle (white or black) and a small bowl of water.
Native botanicals: A sprig of rosemary or a eucalyptus leaf.
The Ritual Steps
Prepare the Space:
Cleanse your area with your rosemary or eucalyptus, moving in a counter-clockwise direction to "banish" the old energy of the previous year.
Place your Pietersite next to your candle to ground your Reiki energy and protect your psychic boundaries.
The Ancestor Invitation:
Light your candle. Similar to the Beltane practice of leaving food for the Fae, set a small "offering plate" of local fruit or bread aside for your ancestors and guides.
Take a few deep breaths and visualize the "thinning veil."
The Samhain Cross Spread: Shuffle your deck and draw four cards in the shape of a cross to seek guidance from the other side:
Bottom Card: What needs to be buried/left behind from the last six months?
Left Card: A message from an ancestor or guide.
Right Card: A hidden strength you should embrace this winter.
Top Card: What the "New Year" holds for your spiritual growth.
Reiki Infusion:
Hold your hands over your Tarot cards and your Pietersite.
Send Reiki energy into the cards to seal the messages you received and then into yourself, focusing on your crown and third eye chakras to stay open to your intuition throughout the winter months.
Closing:
Thank your ancestors and the land for their presence.
Let the candle burn down safely or s***f it out, acknowledging that while the sun is fading in Melbourne, your internal light remains bright.
