Hearing loss prevention has been mentioned to be most effective
intervention to address the increasing prevalence of hearing loss (World
Health Organisation). As such, BGM Audiologists focuses on the provision
of effective hearing loss prevention products such as custom made ear
plugs, shooting plugs and in ear monitors to prevent noise induced
hearing loss.

In 2019, our Deaf Awareness Month Focus was on promoting awareness on hearing loss and South African Sign Language (SASL) in Limpopo. We gave free hearing tests in prominent medical practices in Limpopo and gave out booklets on basic SASL.

This year, our focus is going to be on the promotion of South African Sign Language (SASL) where we will be giving out basic SASL communication booklets from our Hatfield office. To book for an online basic SASL communication booklet, email us on: director@bgmaudiologists.co.za.

We believe learning SASL is a first step in including the Deaf within the society.

BGM Audiologists's Good ears for future leaders project is a school-based hearing screening initiative that focuses on the early identification of hearing loss among pre-school and foundation phase learners. We believe that every child's hearing should be screened annually, regardless of affordability or school location.

"Research by the Hearing Health Foundation shows that musicians are four times likely to develop noise-induced hearing loss than the general public".

BGM Audiologists has initiated a "BGM Audiologists Musician Gear" Initiative to prevent hearing loss among musicians. This initiative includes hearing tests to obtain baseline hearing levels and supply of custom moulded in-ear monitors. Apart from hearing protection, in-ear monitors allows the musician to hear the music mix directly in their ears.
