Tell them WHAT you love about them.
Let them tell what they love about YOU.
Let them tell you what they love about THEMSELVES.
Telling your child you love them is one of the most important things you can do, and it never gets old no matter how many times you say it.
But there’s another conversation worth having just as regularly.
Asking your child what they love about themselves.
Not what they’re good at.
Not what they’ve accomplished.
What they actually love about who they are.
Because the way a child learns to speak about themselves matters just as much as knowing they are loved by someone else.
Self-love isn’t something that just develops on its own.
It gets practiced, out loud, in small moments, over and over again until it starts to feel natural.
A child who grows up being asked that question regularly, and who is given the space to answer it without hesitation, is building an inner voice that will carry them through every hard season life brings their way.
That voice starts at home.
You get to be the one who helps shape it. ❤️
