•LEVEL 4 UPDATE •

We are still open and fully operational as a health care service provider. Both the Hermanus and Onrus branch is dedicated to taking extra hygiene precautions to keep our patients and colleagues safe, and reduce the spread of the Coronavirus.

We are also doing post-COVID19 physiotherapy home-visits for anyone struggling with complications due to the virus. It has been proven that it maintains muscle strength, improves respiratory function and reduces overall weakness.

Kindly give us a ring to find out more!

• CHANEL MOUTON •

I grew up in Durbanville and completed my studies at Stellenbosch University in 2009.

Rustenburg (North West) was my home for my Community Service year and the first 8 years of my private practice career. During this time I completed my diploma in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (2012). I spent 2 summers working in Maryland in the US as a camp counselor & medical staff member before moving to Hermanus in 2017.

If I’m not out mountain biking or playing netball, I’ll be in the gym at our practice teaching Pilates (BASI qualified teacher).

I am currently busy with my Masters degree in Exercise and Sports Physiotherapy at the University of Cape Town.

I have a special interest in netball-related injuries and injury prevention as well as the rehabilitation following spinal- and orthopaedic surgery.

• ANNELIZE BOSHOFF •

Annelize Boshoff (B.Sc Physiotherapy, Stellenbosch University, 1996).

I joined VV Physiotherapy in 2016. I've been a Physiotherapist for 24 years, and still thoroughly enjoy the daily challenges that the profession offers. Previously, I've worked in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town , as well as in Scotland, UK, for 4 years.

I am married to a self-employed, squash-fanatic husband and we have 2 teenage daughters of 12 and 14. As a family, we enjoy walks in the mountains and going to the beach.

As a physio, over the years, I've done a bit of everything - but always had a special interest in orthopaedic conditions (especially spinal conditions: backs and necks), headaches, and rehab following orthopaedic surgery.
I've done various post-graduate courses ; including Chronic Pain courses, Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy, etc. I've recently decided to broaden my horizons by qualifying as a BASI Pilates instructor. I teach 6 Pilates classes a week. I am extremely passionate and excited about this new direction in my career and enjoy the fact that it compliments my work as a physio so well. I hope to do further Pilates courses in the future to also add Pregnancy Pilates, Kids Pilates!

• HANNAH DE WAAL•

(B.Sc Physiotherapy, Stellenbosch, 2017 )
_

Hannah previously worked in rural KwaZulu-Natal on the North Coast; with experience in out- and in-patient care, ICU, pediatrics and women’s health.

Whilst in Durban, she also assisted with physiotherapy at the Comrades.

Hannah completed courses in dry needling, sport massage, lower and upper body specific retraining.
_

I have a love for the outdoors, and enjoy trail (and road) running, hiking, open-
water swimming and all Hermanus’ nature has to offer. You can mostly find me in the ocean or in the mountains in my free time. I am always up for a challenge, and enjoy participating in big sporting events (covid-dependant 😉).
_

Hannah joined the Van Vuuren team in 2019, and is currently based in the Onrus branch.

She also assists in the hospital with post operative Orthopedic, Neuro-surgery and ICU-care.

• SILKE STRUWIG •

(BSc in Physiotherapy, Stellenbosch, 2018)

You will most likely find me in the hospital, with a stethoscope around my neck. I enjoy the challenging environment of the ICU and whatever the wards may offer. Although my keen interest is intensive care - and cardiopulmonary physiotherapy, I enjoy and have experience in post operative orthopaedic/spinal rehabilitation, paediatrics and treating neurological conditions such as stroke. If i'm not seeing in-patients, you'll find me at the Hermanus branch - available for out-patient bookings.

I joined Van Vuuren Physiotherapists January of 2020, after finishing my community service year in rural KZN. I have completed post-graduate courses in basic life support, exercise and function without pain, dry needling and sports massage.

I love trail running, the outdoors, walking my dogs and spending time with friends and family.

• CHARLOTTE CRONJE•

Charlotte joined Van Vuuren Physiotherapy in 2020 - making her the newest member of the team!

Charlotte is a compassionate, easy-going, positive person seeking to call out the best and brightest in all her patients - both physically and mentally. Her special interests include fascia work, breathing, mindful movement, and mental health, and she is excited for where the future of Physiotherapy will go!

After finishing her degree in 2015 and completing her community service year in Rustenburg, Charlotte spent a year living, and working as a teacher in Vietnam, after which she settled back into Physiotherapy by doing a few locums in and around the Western Cape before coming to a halt in the lovely Overberg.

Charlotte also manages the practice’s post-covid19 home-rehab program. Otherwise, she mostly sees patients at the rooms in Onrus/Hermanus, and leads our stretch and relaxation classes.

• Meet the Team •

- ANTIONETTE VAN VUUREN -

( practice owner)

My motto is: “Live Life! Feed your Body, Mind and Soul.”

Van Vuuren Physiotherapists opened its doors for the first time 27 years ago, in January 1994. We are a flourishing and dynamic practice - Thanks to our client’s loyal support, as well as competent personnel and physiotherapists. Admin and Practice Management gets done in-between the hands-on treatments and rehabilitation of clients. I have attended, 3 - one year courses: OMT (orthopaedic manipulative therapy), Sport, as well as a Women’s, (and Men’s) Health Course. I have attended a five day Aqua Therapy Course, for optimal treatment in our heated pool (32º).

Some Physio’s focus on pain (victim) and forget about the cause (culprit). The Fascia course taught me to find the cause first, and only then, do you treat the pain.

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing…” - Helen Keller.
I am privileged that I have crossed Africa on a Motorcycle, hiked Everest Base Camp, and also sailed more than halfway around the world. This year, I would like to complete the Addo 44km Trail run/hike; as well as an Overberg Meander, 8 days on our mountain bikes. Sometimes a person’s work becomes their whole life – and then they miss out a lot on life. I firmly believe in balancing my love for travel and adventure and work.

I am very fortunate and blessed: I love my job as a Body Mechanic.
