Just a quick update : Students worked on a variety of wildlife in the last two weeks while assisting Dr.Boshoff infield . ….Sables, rhino, wild dogs , hyena , kudu and even spotted lions feeding in the Kruger National Park. Yesterday students moved three Cape buffalo to a boma for future transport. Prior to the move, new ear tags were created, including a custom “2024” tag a made to mark the year. At the same camp, they examined a roan experiencing difficulty walking in her hind end. It was determined that she had recently given birth, and a nerve issue in the pelvic area was suspected.
After a quick stop at the lodge for coffee and a snack, they evaluated an eland deer with a broken right horn, which was subsequently removed. The last call of the day involved a kudu bull that had been observed with his head down. He was found to have severe right otitis with necrotic tissue present.
