We're proud to have been serving Hout Bay for 32 years this year, since we first opened in 1991. ❤️

32 is a number that's easy for Vaughan to remember because Wheeler's is as old as his daughter (which makes both of them feel like time needs to slow down a little bit!).

Vaccine registration will be opening 01 July for ages 50 years and above! We encourage Hout Bay residents to please register and assist anyone who needs help registering!

As from 01 July 2021 all citizens aged 50 years and above can register for vaccination

Phase 2 of the COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign commences today across South Africa. Wheeler's Pharmacy is NOT currently one of the 87 approved vaccination sites across the public and private sector, but we encourage all residents of Hout Bay over 60 years of age to register for the vaccination.

It is mandatory to register on the Department of Health’s EVDS (https://vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za/ #/).Based on your registration details, EVDS will issue you with your unique token when it is your turn to be vaccinated. Without this token, you won’t be eligible for vaccination. You can also register by dialing *134*832 # or WhatsApp the word REGISTER to 0600 123456.

Those over the age of 60 who have registered on EVDS will start receiving SMS’s outlining their scheduled vaccination day, time, and site (near their home or work) over the next few days. Remember, there are still over 700,000 healthcare workers who need to be vaccinated as the priority, so the scale up will be gradual over the next one to two weeks. Please do not go to a site before you are invited to do so via SMS as you will not be able to receive the vaccination.

You might not know this about Wheeler's Owner & Pharmacist, Vaughan, but he is an avid painter in his (little) free time. His painting East Rand Mine Dump, depicting one of the mine dumps that formed a "mountain" range on the East Rand/Ekurhuleni where he grew up, will be on display at the Zeitz MOCAA along with other artists from Cape Town (and Hout Bay!) during the Home is Where the Art Is exhibition.

The exhibition opens today and runs until January 10th 2021!

"After a closure of more than seven months, Zeitz MOCAA is proud to reopen with an unprecedented, democratic celebration of art belonging to and made by the people of Cape Town. Assembled through an open submission process, this group exhibition of more than 1,600 artworks includes the art of children, professional and amateur artists, collectors, and others from across the city of Cape Town."

Last month we brought African superfoods from Local Village Foods and Modern Traditions, krauts and fermentations from Eligin’s Her Harvest Rosenhof Farm and everyone’s favourite crisps from Rootstock Vegi Crisps, to the Health Shop. We’ve also adorned our home decor shelves with gorgeous handwoven textiles from Barrydale Weavers and beautiful carafes and glasses from Ngwenya Glass Eswatini/Swaziland. Come by the shop to explore these local brands!
