Today is National Microchip Day! 🐾
A microchip is your pet’s voice if they ever get lost — it’s a permanent, safe way to make sure they can always find their way back home.

📌 Quick facts:

It’s about the size of a grain of rice.

It can’t fall off or fade like a collar tag.

Shelters and vets can scan it to instantly trace your contact details.

If your pet isn’t microchipped yet, today’s the perfect day to book an appointment. Already chipped? Take a minute to ensure your contact details are up to date.

🐾 Not Sure When to Vaccinate Your Dog?

We’ve put together our recommended vaccine schedule so you can keep it handy and ensure your pup is always protected. Our protocol follows the latest WSAVA guidelines and considers local health risks—including annual rabies boosters due to the current seal outbreak.

📌 Save this post for future reference and keep your dog healthy, happy, and safe!

Bob the chicken is on the mend! 💛

She was brought in with a tear in her shoulder — a delicate case that required skilled surgical care.
🩺 Dr Jacqui expertly stitched her up, and Dr Pam ensured she was held safely and calmly throughout, using the correct poultry handling technique to keep her secure and stress-free.

She is happily back in the hatch with her flock, recovering well and enjoying her usual pecking order privileges. 🐓

Let’s Talk… A**l Glands 🐶 (Yes, really!)

It’s not the most glamorous topic, but it’s so important for your pup’s comfort and health.

Your dog has two small a**l glands on either side of their bottom that release a smelly fluid when they p**p — it’s part of how they “mark” their territory.

🔍 Why should they be checked by a vet?

If these glands don’t empty properly on their own, they can become impacted, infected, or even form painful abscesses. Ouch!

🚨 Signs your dog might need a check-up:

• Scooting their bum on the floor
• Licking or chewing at their rear
• A strong, fishy smell
• Discomfort when sitting or p**ping

💡 Regular check-ups help prevent painful issues before they start. Your vet can assess if they need to be expressed — and do it safely (no DIY squeezing, please!).

👩‍⚕️ Keeping your pup comfy starts with the small stuff. Don’t ignore the butt wiggles!
