💬 How to Talk to a Parent About Accepting Help at Home
Talking to a parent about getting some help at home can feel awkward. Especially when they’ve always been the strong one looking after everyone else.
If you’ve started to notice little changes or that things are getting a bit harder for them, it might be time to check in.
Here’s how to make the conversation easier:
❤️ Start with care
Try something like "I've been thinking about how things are going for you lately. How are you feeling with everything around the house?"
👂 Let them talk
Give them the space to share. This is just as much about emotions and independence as it is about daily tasks.
🤝 Work through it together
Look at options as a team. A bit of extra help with errands or a friendly companion a few times a week could make a big difference.
💡 Focus on the positives
Support at home doesn't take independence away. It can actually help them hold onto it for longer.
It’s not always easy, but it’s worth having the conversation.
