We often think of earwax as something we don’t want in our body, but believe it or not, a certain amount of wax is good for our ears!

Because earwax is a sticky substance, it forms a protective barrier within the middle ear, trapping dust and other small particles, and keeping the area clean.

Despite earwax being a “filter”, there are some instances where it can also indicate a problem - for example, wet earwax may suggest an infection, while dry earwax can build up over time and cause a blockage.
