*FREE STATE IS OFFICIALLY ON THIRD WAVE OF COVID19 WITH EXPONENTIAL RISE OF DAILY INFECTIONS*
We are now in the Third Wave of the Outbreak and have today seen a shocking rise of infections to 427 new cases with 60 yet to be allocated to appropriate districts. Mangaung has 200 new cases, Lejweleputswa has 95 new cases and Thabo Mofutsanyana has 53 new cases, Fezile Dabi has 49 new cases and Xhariep has 21 new cases.
We are appealing to our communities to take care of themselves and adhere to all Covid19 non- pharmaceutical measures because there is no cure for Covid19 and all its emerging mutating variants.
It is important that you should take personal responsibility to avoid getting infected and when infected seek medical help and appropriately isolate or quarantine as you may be advised by health practitioners.
Our communities must ensure that they play their part and protect the health system from getting overwhelmed if everyone gets sick. Our current ability to treat people may not last if unnecessarily stretched to the limit by non adherence to Covid19 measures. We can see that all over the world, there is no health system that is able to withstand the high numbers of demand for high flow oxygen, high care and intensive care units.
We also encourage you to register to vaccinate when asked to do so, to enable them to vaccinate when their time comes.
We are currently registering 60 year olds and above through an EVDS system through a laptop or smartphone by logging in to: https://vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za/ or use a zero rated and no cost USSD SMS system by dialing *134*832 # or by free WhatsApp at 0600123456
The MEC of Health, Montseng Tsiu has taken this opportunity to appreciate the continuing sterling job of health care workers who have spent the whole heat now in the frontlines against a global pandemic. “We appreciate your efforts and hard work. We trust that our communities will cooperate and lessen your burden” said Tsiu.
End.
