Today I was reminded of mental detoxing. As I sweated out the last 3 months of toxins from my physical body in a Hot Yoga class with Free Spirit Wellness I thought about all the mental and emotional stories we also carry in our bodies and thus cells.
We are born with inherited stories, this much we now know, and then through the dynamic of being raised by society, school, parents and such - who are all just doing their best - we have our own traumas which we shrug off and think little of as we 'just get on with it'.
Where do you go to, or how do you detox from the unhealthy thinking patterns, past memory ruminations and fear projections? After a bender = Essentiale or the likes... a run or yoga? But we don't have the same practices around mental detox.
I am encouraging you to explore mental and emotional detoxing; through active awareness around what you are thinking and how it makes you feel in you body. Tight, irritated, angry, sad, frustrated, or are you fully detached already.
Almost like another version of you voyeuristically watching yourself go through your day. Then do an audit. What are you recreating that is similar to your parents dynamic, or a continued cycle of relationship stress dynamics. See what it is you are thinking and feeling - detox and find a better thought and a healthier feeling - Try creativity or gratitude, or even start your day differently. BUT change requires detoxing old stuff first!
