The condition is lifelong, and symptoms can vary considerably from one person to the next.

Symptoms involve challenges or differences in intellectual, language, social, and motor abilities. People with autism may learn, act, think, communicate, and interact differently than people who do not have autism spectrum disorder.

Autism is referred to as a spectrum disorder because there is so much variation in terms of the type of symptoms people experience and the severity of those symptoms.

Bipolar disorder is a serious mental illness that causes unusual shifts in mood, ranging from extreme highs (mania or “manic” episodes) to lows (depression or “depressive” episode). A person who has bipolar disorder also experiences changes in their energy, thinking, behaviour, and sleep.

Bipolar disorder is a lifelong condition that doesn’t go away on its own. While it can feel overwhelming and isolating at first, an early, accurate diagnosis is the first step toward getting better. Proper treatment, along with support and self-care, helps people with bipolar disorder live healthy, fulfilling lives.

Contact us if you feel overwhelmed and need assistance.

Anyone can develop epilepsy; however, the condition is usually more common in young children or older adults and is slightly more common in men.

While there is no cure for epilepsy, for most people, treatment with medications can control their seizures. Some people may require lifelong treatment, but for some young children and others, the seizures eventually go away.

Depression can cause people to spend more than they can afford, and there is a cyclical link between poor mental health and financial problems.
This is because:
Lack of motivation: Depression can make it hard to find the motivation to manage finances.
Short-term coping: Spending money on things like food, clothes, or alcohol can be a short-term coping mechanism for negative emotions.
Sense of power: Spending money can give people a sense of power and control.
Impulsive decisions: People experiencing mania or hypomania may make impulsive financial decisions

Be money wise this festive season, reach out to a support line if you feel overwhelmed. Remember that you are not alone.
