I write this with a concerned heart, and with the hope that my message will reach parents and future parents in our community.
If you know me, you’ll know that being a nurse and midwife isn’t just what I do – it’s who I am. My work is not just a profession – it’s a calling. The safety and well-being of mothers and babies is my highest priority, from the beginning of pregnancy through to birth and even beyond.
Since 2013, I have been offering non-diagnostic 4D scans in the Hartbeespoort and Brits area. I always work within my scope of practice as prescribed. Because I am not a sonographer or doctor, I may not take any medical measurements or make diagnoses. My goal is to give parents the special moment of seeing their baby in 4D and capturing those precious images and videos. However, my background as a midwife enables me to offer valuable advice and support.
I share this message because it has come to my attention that someone in our area is offering scans and taking measurements without the necessary medical training or qualifications. This person is not a sonographer or doctor, yet they are offering services that require medical competence – including early pregnancy scans and growth measurements.
I kindly ask that you be aware of this and be cautious about who you choose to accompany you on this special journey. It’s important to know who is qualified and who is not, because this is about more than just pretty pictures – it’s about your and your baby’s safety.
This is not a message of judgment, but rather one of sincere care and responsibility. Let us all work together to protect one another. If you are unsure, ask questions, do your research, and make sure you trust the right people with this precious journey.
