🧠 When the Mind Won’t Stop

Overthinking isn’t a personal flaw. It’s something most of us learned because, at some point, thinking felt safer than feeling. If you stay in your head, you can plan, predict, and protect yourself. The problem is…the mind never learned when it was okay to stop.

You don’t fix overthinking by fighting your thoughts or trying to “be positive.” That just adds more noise. Overthinking is usually a sign that you’ve left your body. You’re not here anymore…you’re in the past or the future, replaying or rehearsing.

Coming back into the body is how the spiral breaks.

Start small. Slow your breath, especially the exhale. Feel your feet on the ground. Notice the weight of your body where you’re sitting. Pay attention to temperature, sound, or movement. These aren’t tricks…they’re reminders that you’re safe right now.

Then let yourself feel what’s underneath the thoughts. The tightness. The fear. The sadness. Whatever is there. Don’t analyze it and don’t rush it away. Stay with it. The moment you do, the mind softens on its own.

Clarity doesn’t come from thinking harder. It comes from being here.

That’s the part no one teaches us. Peace isn’t found in the mind. It’s found when the body knows it doesn’t have to run anymore.
