Healing is rarely a straight path, and it’s not something anyone has to walk alone.

Many of the challenges we carry were never our fault. But choosing to seek support, understanding, and growth is a powerful step toward healing.

At JBay Therapy Hub, we believe in walking that journey alongside you, with compassion, professional care, and a safe space to begin.

If you feel ready to take that step, our team is here to support you 💛

Some children experience the world a little more intensely than others.

Sounds may feel louder. Clothing tags may feel uncomfortable. Bright lights, busy environments, or certain textures can quickly become overwhelming. This is often referred to as sensory sensitivity, and it forms part of how some children process sensory information from the world around them.

Children with sensory sensitivities are not being difficult or “overreacting.” Their nervous systems may simply be responding more strongly to sensory input.

You might notice things like:

• Covering ears in noisy environments
• Avoiding certain clothing textures
• Being overwhelmed in busy places
• Strong reactions to smells, lights, or touch
• Difficulty settling when there is too much sensory input

With the right understanding and support, children can learn ways to manage these experiences and feel more comfortable in their environments. Small adjustments at home, school, and in daily routines can make a meaningful difference.

If you’re noticing sensory sensitivities in your child and would like guidance, our team at JBay Therapy Hub is here to help support both you and your child 💛

If school has started feeling heavy, for your child and for you, a psychoeducational assessment can bring so much relief. Not because something is “wrong”, but because having answers helps you support them in the way they truly need.

A psychoeducational assessment looks at the whole learning picture (cognitive, academic, visual-motor and emotional), so you can understand how your child learns best, what’s getting in the way, and what will help most.

It can help by:
- highlighting strengths (often the parts that get overlooked)
- explaining the “why” behind struggle, frustration or overwhelm
- giving clear, practical support strategies for home and school
- reducing anxiety by replacing guessing with understanding
- supporting accommodations where needed

You may want to consider an assessment if:
- they’re trying hard, but results don’t reflect it
- reading, writing, spelling or maths feels like a constant battle
- tests bring big worry, tears, or shutdown
- focus is difficult, work feels slow, or they’re often overwhelmed
- a teacher, tutor or therapist has raised concerns
