The importance of cultivating meaning in our lives.

As I finish writing my next book, I’ve done an incredible amount of research on the brain. And the takeaway is: your brain is very primal. It only wants to keep you alive.

One thing we need to find is meaningful hobbies and goals. Hobbies that bring us joy and presence in our body. Goals that drive us toward something— that keep us practicing and trying and testing out resilience.

These things give the brain rest from scanning for threats. They give the brain challenge, and (healthy) stimulation, and they help the brain consistently create new neural pathways.

Help your brain stay stimulated, evolving, and fulfilled.

Leave some hobbies that take you out of your head or goals you’re working on in the comments

This is for the people who feel like they're hard to love.

Y’all, we can all be difficult. All of us.
And the most “difficult” aspects of our personalities are often self-protective, formed because we’re afraid of exposing our most tender, vulnerable parts.

Many were raised to believe they were difficult simply because their caregivers or parents did not know how (or have the bandwidth) to support a growing human who displayed the full range of their emotional spectrum.

And so many people grew up to believe that big, core parts of who they are not lovable because their adults didn’t know how to separate their worth & goodness from their feelings or behavior.

But you are so lovable.
You — yes, you – are so easy to love.

Even with your protective mechanisms - because they are not you, and you are not them.
Your behavior is changeable, but your worth and lovability are not.

And when people can only see your protective parts, it’s because they’re also living in the world through their protective, reactive parts.

When we soften our defenses, it becomes more natural to have compassion for others’ hardness and to see it for what it is, and not to confuse it for *who* someone is. (which doesn’t mean we don’t have boundaries, but we don’t need to define someone’s essence by their pain).

This is all to say that you are lovable.
As the poet Rumi says, our work is not to seek for love, but simply to remove the barriers we have built against it.

May you soften and feel the love today.

Want to shift that relationship with yourself so that you can connect with just how lovable you really are? The Let It Go (emotional self management) Workshop begins June 3rd, and the 4pm timeslot is now SOLD OUT - a few spots left in the 10am (pacific time). This is the only time I'll be running this workshop in 2025.

It is often said that courage comes in two types: one that says “I can do it,” and another that says “I did this before.”

Capability + experience = courage

ℹ️🌿 SELF-CARE: KEEP YOURSELF A PRIORITY ALL YEAR ROUND |

Taking care of yourself isn’t a luxury – it’s a necessity. Our fast-paced, demanding lifestyles can create the illusion that self-care is indulgent or even selfish.

However, neglecting your well-being only leads to burnout, stress, and diminished health.

There’s a critical distinction between healthy self-prioritization and self-centeredness. When you care for your physical, emotional, and mental health, you’re better equipped to support others and handle life’s challenges.
