For about a year now, I’ve been experimenting with the word intention and what it truly means to me.
What I’ve discovered is that it’s deeply personal and internal. Setting an intention isn’t loud or performative. It’s quiet. It’s lived.
On the days I choose to be intentional, I pause more. I feel into my decisions. I check in with the direction I want to move in instead of reacting automatically.
Interestingly, those are the days I’m most productive — not necessarily on what I thought I needed to do, but on what actually needed doing.
When I reflect at the end of the day, I realise that the most crucial tasks have been completed, along with the small things that were quietly draining my energy. Not because I forced them — but because I allowed myself to flow with the rhythm of the day.
I’m beginning to understand that this is embodiment.
Allowing your body to move with the direction of the day. Trusting that when the intention is clear, the right things get done.
This brings me joy.
I’ve come to understand that intentions are lived and goals are chased.
I’m not saying goals are wrong — they have their place. But in Human Design, especially if you have an undefined identity centre, the idea of a rigid five-year goal can feel foreign. You may not be built to fix yourself into a future identity. You may be built to live in the moment, guided by intention.
For me, I can imagine where I’d like to be in five years. But I now see that as a destination, not a demand. Something to travel towards — not chase.
Intentions are a daily practice.
Some days you forget. Some days you fall back into pressure. And that’s okay. Tomorrow is another opportunity to practice.
Living with intention has been kinder to me. There’s less self-criticism. More awareness. More self-love. More honouring of who I am becoming.
If this resonates, I’m holding a small, in-person Intentions vs Goals Zendoodling Workshop on Sunday.
It’s a space to slow down, regulate your nervous system, clarify what truly matters, and create a visual anchor for the intention you want to live by.
If it feels aligned, I’d love to see you there.
