Valliamma Munuswami Mudliar was a true hero of South Africa's struggle for freedom. Born on February 22, 1898, she dedicated her life to fighting against oppressive colonial laws at just 16 years old. Valliamma was part of the Satyagraha movement led by Mahatma Gandhi, participating in protests, marches, and demonstrations against discriminatory policies.

Her bravery and conviction inspired many, including Gandhi, who visited her in prison and asked if she regretted her actions. Valliamma's response was powerful: "I do not regret it. I am glad I did it" ¹ ².

Sadly, Valliamma passed away on February 22, 1914, after contracting an illness in prison. Her legacy lives on, inspiring future generations to fight for justice and equality ³.
