As doctors, we see it all the time. Patients are told their blood tests are “normal”, yet they feel exhausted, anxious, breaking out, losing hair and struggling with dry skin and brittle nails.
Recently, a patient came to us with exactly this story. Persistent fatigue. Acne. Insomnia. Dull, pigmented skin. Hair thinning. Her routine bloods had been checked for years. But when we looked deeper, we found borderline haemoglobin, low ferritin and very low vitamin D.
Those “small” deficiencies were not small at all.
We addressed iron, vitamin D, zinc, B12, magnesium, omega-3 and adequate protein - not just with supplements, but with intentional nutritional changes. Within two months, she reported better sleep, improved energy, clearer skin and stronger nails.
This is what we mean when we say aesthetic medicine is holistic.
As Dr Mark Hyman often says, “Your body is not broken. It is undernourished and overwhelmed.”
Supplements can support, but they do not replace real food. Food remains the most powerful medicine.
Your skin, hair and nails are messengers. When we optimise the inside, the outside follows.
What if your symptoms are not random - but simply your body asking for better nourishment?
