This statement is issued to clarify the factual position regarding Dr. Sebata’s association with the practice and to address inaccuracies arising from recent online publications.
Dr. Sebata was not a permanent employee of the practice. She rendered services strictly in a locum capacity, providing sessional shifts within the Emergency Department. She has never been employed within, nor provided services to, Fourways Urgent Care.
Dr. Sebata last performed locum duties at the practice at the end of July 2025. With effect from 1 August 2025, she ceased all shifts and indicated she was taking leave from Fourways Casualty. Since that date, the practice has had no knowledge of her subsequent professional engagements or current place of work.
Dr. Sebata previously advised the practice that she was required to attend to personal family matters, including caring for an ill parent, and that she continued to manage her own independent medical practice. She also advised that she undertakes sessional work at a local hospital.
At approximately 06:00 this morning, prior to the circulation of the referenced online post, Dr. Sebata contacted the practice telephonically and voluntarily provided personal background information relating to matters involving her church and the arrest of her husband. This information was shared by her in her personal capacity and formed part of the context she wished to place on record.
Subsequent to this conversation, Dr. Sebata transmitted a written communication in which she confirmed, inter alia, the following:
1. She last officially worked shifts at the end of July 2025.
2. She has been on leave from Fourways Casualty since 1 August 2025.
3. The practice is not aware of her current employment or work location.
4. She does not work at, nor provide cover for, Fourways Urgent Care.
5. She previously disclosed her longstanding involvement in a large church community.
6. She is attending court today, has prepared her own medical reports, and became aware of the Facebook post this morning.
Dr. Sebata further indicated that she prepared an affidavit last night, prior to becoming aware of the online publication, confirming that she is self-employed at her own practice while performing sessional duties at emergency departments when required.
This statement is issued for the sole purpose of correcting the record and ensuring that accurate information is available to the public.
