Your child has been referred for a Behavioural Optometry assessment. It’s a new concept… so you conducted research. You may have encountered the term Pediatric Optometrist and wondered about the distinction… 👁️
A Behavioural Optometrist focuses on the impact of vision on daily functions such as reading, learning, and coordination. They provide vision therapy to address issues like eye tracking, focusing, and visual processing.
A Pediatric Optometrist specializes in children’s eye health, diagnosing and treating conditions like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and amblyopia.
While both work with children, Behavioural Optometrists emphasize functional vision and therapy, whereas Pediatric Optometrists prioritize general eye care and development in young patients.
