The Andries Meyer Old Age Home was birth in 1971 made be a generous donation via an Late Estate of Mr Andries Meyer. After many years and many debating sessions, and with the help and assistance of the Former Mr M Steyn and the then Minister of coloured affairs together with Mr L Van Niekerk and Mr L P Spies, Andries Meyer Old Age Home was established and launched on the 09 August 1980.
At a meeting held in Eldorado Park it was decided that an organization called the Protea Organisation for the Coloured Aged to be established. This body was tasked to erect Old Age Homes in the Transvaal and co-ordinate the process.
Today Andries Meyer Old Age Home -Eldorado Park through the benevolence of the late Andries Meyer has secured a resting place for the Aged, and it has now expanded to become a non racial Home caring for the Aged from all walks of life.
Since their modest beginning with only 15 permanent residence, the centre has developed into a Frail Care Centre with 82 Residence and 48 Staff members consisting of Nursing, Security, Domestic, Office, Drivers & Social Worker Staff Members.
