We are looking for a locum professional nurse!!
The Professional Nurse will provide comprehensive reproductive health services, with a focus on safe and legal Termination of Pregnancy (TOP). This includes pre- and post-abortion counselling, medical and surgical abortion assistance, patient education, and contraceptive services, ensuring high standards of care, privacy, and dignity for all clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide professional nursing care and support throughout the abortion process (medical and/or surgical).
• Conduct patient assessments, health screenings, and pregnancy confirmations.
• Offer non-judgmental counselling and informed consent discussions in line with legal and ethical guidelines.
• Administer and monitor medication for medical abortion; assist the doctor in surgical procedures as needed.
• Educate patients on contraception options and provide family planning services.
• Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records and ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations.
• Support post-abortion follow-up and management of potential complications.
• Ensure infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance in all aspects of care.
Requirements:
• Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Certified and trained in Termination of Pregnancy services (TOP).
• Minimum of 3 years’ nursing experience in a primary healthcare or women’s health setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work sensitively with diverse patient populations.
• Basic computer literacy.
