Meet the soleus, the deep calf muscle that keeps you stable, strong, and moving all day long.

It might not get the spotlight, but ignore it at your own risk!

Try bent-knee calf raises and let us know if you felt the burn. šŸ”„

What is Myofascial Release?

Despite the name, myofascial release isn’t about ā€œbreaking down fasciaā€ or physically changing tissue.

Instead, it works through neuromodulation — helping reduce sensitivity in the local nervous system and allowing the body to move more freely.

By applying gentle, sustained pressure, we can:
āœ… Reduce sensitivity in the nervous system in the area of pain
āœ… Improve mobility and movement confidence
āœ… Ease protective muscle tension
āœ… Support recovery after injury or surgery

At Grant Bush Physiotherapy, we use myofascial release alongside active treatments like exercise therapy — because while manual techniques can help reduce pain and sensitivity, movement is what drives long-term change.

Movement is one of the most effective tools we have for recovery and long-term health. šŸ’Ŗ

It improves mobility, reduces pain sensitivity, supports joint and tissue resilience, and boosts mental well-being. Regular, meaningful movement can often do more than passive treatments or medications alone.

Let us help you move with confidence. Book your session via the link in our bio.

Googling your back pain? Here’s a better answer: a proper plan.

There’s no one size fits all solution for back pain, but there are some helpful first steps. Heat, gentle movement, staying mobile, and most importantly, getting a proper assessment.

Back pain is common and usually not serious, but getting the right guidance early on can make all the difference.

Acute injury? 😭 Whether it’s a sprained ankle, pulled muscle or swollen knee, those first few days matter — but that doesn’t mean complete rest.

Here’s what to focus on early after an injury: protect the area, move within pain limits, manage swelling if needed, and slowly start loading it again.

You don’t have to do nothing. In fact, doing the right things early on can set you up for a quicker, stronger recovery.

If you’re unsure how to manage it or things aren’t improving, get it assessed. We’re here to help!

Doing some reading back over notes from one of the most insightful courses we’ve done, the Lower Limb Tendinopathy course with Prof Jill Cook in 2020.

It covered everything from pathology and clinical presentation to how to assess, diagnose and manage tendinopathies effectively, with a strong focus on load management and capacity building.

Still such a valuable resource that continues to shape the way we treat and think about tendon pain.

Do you know much about tendon pain and tendinopathies?

Whether it’s physio, bio, OT or any other allied health appointment, missing your session without letting us know affects more than just your recovery.

Your slot is time set aside with intention. We prepare for it. We plan around it. And if you don’t arrive, we can’t offer it to someone else who may be in pain or urgently needing care.

We care about your progress and your health. All we ask is that you respect our time in return.
