👁️ World Optometry Week (21–25 March)

This week, we shine a light on the importance of eye health and the vital role optometrists play in protecting our vision.
Good vision is essential for learning, working, and overall quality of life—yet many people live with preventable or untreated vision problems.

💡 Did you know?
• Regular eye exams can detect vision issues early
• Eye health can reveal underlying conditions like diabetes and hypertension
• Many causes of vision loss are preventable or manageable if detected early
👁️ Take care of your eyes:
✔️ Schedule routine eye check-ups
✔️ Limit screen time and take breaks
✔️ Wear protective eyewear when needed
✔️ Maintain a healthy lifestyle

At Future Nurses Nursing School, we are committed to raising awareness, promoting early detection, and supporting holistic health education.
👓 Clear vision starts with awareness.

✊ Human Rights Day | The Foundation of Healthcare & Nursing

On Human Rights Day, we are reminded that access to healthcare is not a privilege — it is a fundamental human right.
In the nursing profession, human rights are at the core of everything we do. Every patient, regardless of their background, deserves:
✔️ Dignity and respect
✔️ Equal access to quality care
✔️ Confidentiality and privacy
✔️ Compassionate and ethical treatment

Nurses play a critical role as advocates for patient rights, ensuring that vulnerable individuals and communities are protected, heard, and cared for.
In a country like South Africa, where inequalities still exist, upholding human rights in healthcare is essential to building a just, inclusive, and healthy society.

🧠 World Head Injury Awareness Day

Today we raise awareness about head injuries and the serious impact they can have on individuals, families, and communities.
Head injuries — including traumatic brain injuries (TBI) — can result from road accidents, falls, sports injuries, and violence. Many of these incidents are preventable with the right precautions.

Protect yourself and others:
• Always wear a seatbelt in vehicles
• Use helmets when riding bicycles or motorbikes
• Ensure safe environments at home and work
• Avoid alcohol and substance use when driving
• Seek immediate medical attention after any head injury

Early recognition and prompt treatment can save lives and reduce long-term complications.
As Future Nurses Nursing School, we are committed to educating communities and training healthcare and social support professionals to respond effectively and compassionately.
