I’ve just returned from an unforgettable experience in India, where I joined the LWR medical mission camp at The Duncan Hospital in Bihar.. and it has truly changed me.
As an administrator in the Operating theater, I had the privilege of witnessing life-changing cleft lip and palate surgeries up close. Watching each child go into theatre, and seeing them come out with a new chance at feeding, smiling, and thriving, was humbling in a way I’ll never forget. The skill, compassion, and dedication of the surgical team reminded me why global healthcare work matters so deeply.
After the camp, Mumbai gave me a glimpse into a world far different from my own. From navigating crowded local trains to sharing simple, flavourful street food with the team, every moment broadened my perspective. It grounded me. It reminded me of the privilege I have.. in my life, my work, and the resources I often take for granted.
This trip has deepened my appreciation for the patients I care for back home, and for the resilience of communities everywhere. It reinforced my commitment to serve with empathy, to teach with intention, and to meet every patient exactly where they are.
Grateful for the opportunity. Grateful for the people I met. Grateful for the work we were able to do.
Love Without Reason.. thank you for reminding me what impact truly looks like.
Until the world is cleft free and there are no more sold!
