SESSIONAL TUTOR: UNIVERSITY OF THE WITWATERSRAND - DEPARTMENT OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Due to an increase in the undergraduate student numbers the department is urgently looking for sessional clinical tutors to supervise 2nd, 3rd and final year students doing fieldwork in 2017.
Requirements:
· A Bachelors degree in Occupational therapy and a current registration with HPCSA,
· At least two years clinical experience in the appropriate field,
· Some experience in clinical education/supervision or commitment to attend a clinical education training course.
Qualities:
· Be willing and able to work in a team.
· Have flexible working hours to be available for student education/supervision during the clinical blocks, which are mainly in the mornings and spread throughout the year, exams, and to attend team meetings. It may be possible to attend these meetings using Skype or Face time if physical attendance is impossible.
· Must be able to travel independently to student placements.
· Have an interest in teaching and tutoring students in accordance with the department Problem Based Learning (PBL) teaching policy and the outcomes for the specific block,
· Be an independent organiser.
Responsibilities:
· Teaching, coaching and supervising students to develop clinical competence,
· Marking of clinical reports,
· Marking case presentations and treatment demonstrations, both individual and group,
· Giving students feedback on their clinical performance, completing of clinical competence forms and compilation of marks,
· Attending team meetings.
These positions are an annual contractual appointment and staff are paid per hour by invoicing the department on a monthly basis.
We require tutors in the following fields:
· Physical,
· Psychiatry,
· Paediatrics (Developmental Delay),
· Public health/Community.
