🩻🩺2025 | A year of shared growth, learning, and leadership

As we reflect on 2025, we do so with gratitude for a year marked by growth, global engagement, and deepened purpose - both individually and as co-founders of KM Radiology.

This year represented a significant chapter in our professional journeys. Through advanced training, international exposure, national academic platforms, and ongoing clinical practice, we continued to invest intentionally in paediatric radiology and paediatric neuroradiology — disciplines that demand diagnostic precision, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.

From international paediatric neuroradiology training in Sitges, Spain, to presenting complex neuroimaging cases at local and national congresses, the year reinforced a simple truth:
medicine evolves — and so must we.

Being part of a global radiology community committed to advancing care for children through knowledge, collaboration, and innovation has been both humbling and energising. Each learning opportunity strengthened our ability to support referring clinicians, contribute meaningfully to clinical decision-making, and serve children and families with clarity and care.

As co-founders, we remain committed to building a paediatric imaging practice in South Africa that is globally informed, clinically rigorous, and locally impactful.

As radiologists — especially in paediatric imaging — we often detect concerns that aren’t always visible on the surface.

In many cases, imaging reveals:
• repeated injuries that don’t match the explanation
• fractures in different stages of healing
• internal bruising or organ damage
• signs of stress-related or non-accidental trauma in children

These findings remind us why safety, awareness and early intervention matter — especially during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

💜Gender-based violence leaves more than visible wounds.

In radiology, we often see what others cannot — fractures, internal injuries, repeated trauma, and silent suffering carried by women and children.

As healthcare professionals, we have a responsibility to do more than diagnose.

✅ Speak up when injuries raise concern
✅ Document findings clearly and sensitively
✅ Communicate with referring clinicians
✅ Support referral to social workers, counsellors & safe shelters
✅ Treat every patient with dignity, privacy & compassion

Ending GBV requires a united healthcare response — radiologists, emergency teams, GPs, nurses, social services and mental health professionals working together to protect patients and guide them toward safety and healing.

No woman or child should leave the healthcare system unseen, unheard, or unsupported.
