Alternatively, have a single J and J jab ASAP, and get excellent protection within one month.

With the third Covid19 wave spreading quickly, we are seeing more discussion around ivermectin, and it's use as a treatment, so we thought it prudent to share our thinking as doctors. While it is controversial, our reading of the literature is that ivermectin is effective. We are however, very concerned that it is being used inappropriately and without medical supervision. We are also VERY CONCERNED that there seems to be a huge amount of fake drugs out there and we DISCOURAGE people from using anything they have not sourced from a reliable pharmacy. We do use it as part of our treatment protocols, where we feel it appropriate after a thorough consultation.

We are THRILLED to welcome Dr Charissa Stannard to our practice! Dr Charissa graduated from Wits in 2017 before completing her two year internship at Job Shimankana Tabane Hospital in Rustenburg, and community service year at Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Germiston, where, as a medical officer, she was placed in the Paediatric department. It was here that her deep love for caring for children and babies flourished.

As a young, motivated doctor with a passion for holistic medicine and child health, Charissa believes “health” is a broad concept based on intricate connections between physical and mental well being, genetic factors, and our environments. She is looking forward to establishing meaningful relationships with her patients and addressing all aspects of their health.

When she's not working, Charissa dedicates as much time as possible to her family, being in nature and listening to good music.
