Our enthusiastic adult group have fun staying fit and flexible in challenging varied classes I so enjoy taking yoga to adults in Kensington, Observatory, Bedfordview and adjacent areas. The venue at Observatory's Johannesburg Children's home is marvelously bright and spacious, with a pleasant and enthusiastic group enjoying classes that are varied but structured, challenging enough and also fun. All are welcome to come and benefit by raising levels of fitness, stamina, flexibility, confidence and composure. The address is 59 Urania Steet, Observatory
Fixed times are currently:
Wednesdays 17h50 for 18h00 till 19h15 (and usually Mondays, please check first)
Saturdays 08h20 for 08h30 till 10h00

Other times on request, and there is a class at 08h30 on Fridays in Bedfordview. Fees are:
One class per week: R520 per month
Two or more classes per week: R850 per month
Drop in: R190 per class. I’m qualified to teach Iyengar yoga, which I’ve been practicing for around thirty years. Yoga increases both stability and mobility, strengthening core, lower and upper body in a balanced way. It enhances stamina, improves respiratory capacity and vigour, resulting in greater confidence, composure and mental focus. It’s ideal for those who may not be physically active right now, as well as those who are fit and involved in other activities, but for example want more flexibility. Iyengar Yoga specifically involves sustained focus on precision and correct alignment, involving the use of props that enable each student to practice optimally at his own level with low risk of injury.

I’m excited and grateful that Nadine one of the keenest of our friendly yoga crowd has agreed to display our posters in her fabulous The Lazer Clinique Salon.
These posters highlight our Iyengar Yoga at Nicol Wellness Center in Bedfordview, going strong into 2024.
There’s always space for more of the right people to join, initially coming to a class on a free tryout basis.

Based on age-old traditions, Iyengar yoga is a meticulously classical style of Yoga.
Over 70 years of study, research & practice has refined this style of Yoga which approaches movement and breath work with the greatest possible focus on precision and alignment.

It is both a physical and mental practice, practiced using simple props at each student’s own level, with low risk of injury despite the challenges. Attention is given to breath and relevant philosophical aspects.

Yoga increases both stability and mobility, strengthening core, lower and upper body in a balanced way. It enhances fitness, flexibility, strength, stamina and respiratory capacity, to feel energetic, calm and confident.

Classes also take place at SACRED HEART COLLEGE in Observatory.

Yoga at our great Sacred Heart College venue is nicely up and running again this year!

Our Saturday 8h30 session yesterday was pretty active, still ending off with quiet relaxation, to emerge energetic yet composed..

Elsewhere there was much activity too - at the pool, the senior cricket oval and the basket ball practice hall.
It's great to do yoga with much else happening enthusiastically around us!

We've now added a Monday 6pm session too!

Please contact Steve directly on 066 1913524 / stevewilderyoga@gmail.com to enquire. (Please Don't use the Whatsapp Button, seems I'm not set up right for that!)

The Saturday morning yoga session at Sacred Heart College is going really well!
With interest growing, evening ones will happen too.
If interested, please contact Steve on stevewilderyoga@gmail.com / 066 191 3524.
Come first to a free introductory class, without commitment!

Iyengar yoga may involve fully inverting – as three do here, on their heads.
It takes time to build the strength, composure and fortitude to do so.
Once that happens, these are further enhanced.

Each only ever does what’s sensible.
One option: inverting by lying back with legs up and resting at a wall.
Plus a wide variety of other poses and actions.

Yoga is for anyone: increase stability and mobility.
Strengthen core, lower and upper body in a balanced way.

“Education with Heart” is the College’s motto - in this case applied to Yoga!
What a great venue, surrounded by atmospheric buildings and spacious fields!

This morning at Sacred Heart College , we couldn't get to our regular parking spot, well worth the inconvenience - after yoga it was delightful to see the bike rally in full swing, all enthusiastically enjoying themselves as much as we had our yoga!
